Permitted Investments
Invinitive SIPP — Investment Policy Statement
Version 1.1 | Invinitive Financial UK Ltd
1. Overview
This document sets out the range of investments that may be held within the Invinitive SIPP. It is important that you understand what you can and cannot invest in before directing any investment decisions.
Invinitive operates on an execution-only basis. We will accept investment instructions from Members (or their authorised financial advisers) but we do not assess the suitability of any investment for your individual circumstances.
Some investments may attract tax charges if held within a SIPP — particularly "taxable property" as defined by HMRC. Members are responsible for ensuring they do not direct the Scheme to hold such assets.
2. Permitted Investments
The following investment types are permitted within the Invinitive SIPP:
- UK-listed equities (London Stock Exchange, AIM)
- US-listed equities (NYSE, NASDAQ)
- European and other international exchange-listed equities
- Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)
- Investment Trusts
- UK and international government bonds (gilts)
- Corporate bonds (investment grade and high yield)
- Unit trusts and OEICs (where available on the platform)
- Cash (held in GBP and major currencies)
Access to specific markets and asset classes is subject to the assets available on the Invinitive platform at any given time.
3. Restricted Investments
The following investment types are not offered on the Invinitive platform:
- Unlisted shares (subject to prior approval)
- Unregulated Collective Investment Schemes (UCIS) — subject to strict eligibility criteria
- Overseas property held via an authorised vehicle (subject to detailed review)
4. Prohibited Investments (Taxable Property)
HMRC rules prohibit certain assets from being held within a SIPP. Holding prohibited assets may result in significant tax charges for the Member. The following are prohibited:
- Residential property (directly held)
- Tangible moveable property (artwork, jewellery, antiques, cars, wine, stamps)
- Cryptoassets and digital tokens
- Loans to connected parties
- Employer-related investments beyond HMRC permitted limits
Warning: Investing in taxable property within a SIPP can trigger a tax charge of up to 55% of the investment value, payable by the Member. If in doubt, seek independent financial advice before proceeding.
5. Member Responsibility
As an execution-only provider, Invinitive will execute instructions as directed by the Member or their authorised adviser. We do not:
- Assess the suitability of any investment for your personal circumstances
- Provide investment advice or recommendations
- Accept liability for investment losses arising from your own decisions
You are responsible for ensuring that any investment you direct the Scheme to hold is permitted under HMRC rules and this Permitted Investments policy. If you are unsure, we recommend seeking independent financial or tax advice before proceeding.
6. Complex Investments and Professional Investor Access
Some investments available through the platform may be classed as complex because of their structure, underlying exposure, liquidity profile, use of leverage, embedded derivatives or other features that may make the risks harder to understand.
Where an investment is classed as complex, retail clients may be required to complete an appropriateness assessment before they can place a trade. Passing an assessment does not mean that Invinitive is recommending the investment or that it is suitable for the client.
Some investments may be restricted to clients who have been categorised as professional investors. Professional investor status is not automatic and will only be applied where Invinitive has assessed and confirmed that the relevant regulatory criteria have been met.
Important: Invinitive is an execution-only platform. We do not provide investment advice or personal recommendations. Clients are responsible for their own investment decisions.
